Tony is a very experienced teacher, a UK National Teaching Fellow and leading academic author. He brings a wealth of expertise to making challenging topics accessible. He can tutor the melodeon and is available for both private tuition and running small group workshops. He writes for the melodeon and has published the melodeon tutor books Melodeon Classics – from Morris to Mozart – abridgements and arrangements of classical melodies for the melodeon, Melodeon Classics – from Morris to Mozart Volume 2, and The Christmas Box – Melodeon Carols – arrangements of carols for the D/G melodeon. YouTube videos are available and demonstrate Tony playing each of the tunes. A collection of the works of Turlough O’Carolan arranged for the D/G melodeon will be published in April 2017.
Tony is able to take on occasional or regular melodeon tutoring on a one-to-one basis. For those with either a D/G or C/F melodeon, this can include:
- getting started on a melodeon for absolute beginners
- crossing the rows
- playing sensitively, with expression and feeling
- musical theory for melodeonists
- developing a classical repertoire on a melodeon
As an experienced university-level teacher he is able to lead small-group melodeon workshops at festivals, arts centres, local events and the like. Get in touch with Tony to discuss your requirements.
